Common University Entrance Test (CUET)

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is being introduced for admission into all UG Programmes in all Central Universities under the Ministry of Education, (MoE). 

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) will provide a common platform and equal opportunities to candidates across the country, especially those from rural and other remote areas, and help establish better connections with the Universities. A single Examination will enable the
Candidates to cover a wide outreach and be part of the admissions process to various Central Universities.

Mode of Examination

CUET (UG) – 2025 will completely be conducted in Hybrid mode (Pen & Paper/ Computer
Based Test (CBT) mode. Medium of the test will be in English, Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil and other official languages mentioned in the constitution.

Syllabus of Test

  • Language – Language to be tested through Reading Comprehension (based on
    different types of passages–Factual, Literary and Narrative, and Literary Aptitude
    and Vocabulary
  • Domain Subject – As given on the NTA website
  • General Test – General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability, Quantitative Reasoning (Simple application of basic mathematical concepts Arithmetic / Algebra / Geometry / Mensuration / Statistics), Logical and Analytical Reasoning.

Total subjects 61 (33 languages, 27 domain-specific, and 01 General Test)
Choice of Test PaperMaximum 06 Test papers (04 or 05 domain subjects including General Test and 01 or 02 languages).
Candidates may choose a maximum 06 Subjects including languages (Indian and Foreign) and General Test Note: It is advisable for candidates to select at least one language.
Medium of the Test13 languages (Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu)
Total Questions40 out of 50 questions for all test papers and 50 out of 60 for the General Test (choice of 10 questions). Duration for all test papers would be 45 minutes except for Mathematics/Applied Mathematics, Accountancy, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Computer Science/Informatics Practices, and General Tests which would be 60 minutes.
Shift and Duration It is proposed that for Pen & paper mode, there may be three shifts in a day of about two hours duration.
